Why Sports?
Sports physiotherapy emphasizes the prevention, identification, assessment, minimization, and correction of pain and disability associated with injuries sustained in athletic endeavors and problems that affect sport performance. The goal of treatment is to maximize participation and performance.

A physiotherapist may use a variety of interventions to prevent and treat sports related injuries, which include but are not limited to: pre-participation screening, cardiovascular, resistance, endurance and neuromuscular re-education exercise programs, taping and bracing, sports specific ergonomic and training regimens, manual physical therapy. In addition to prevention and recovery, intervention to maximum performance includes a focus on improving speed, agility, explosiveness, balance and coordination.
